NAUTILUS is Marlab’s design for a class of small water-borne reinforced
concrete structures. It is part of the STARGATE series of structures ?so
called because they are structures which can be assembled around a central
hub, and provide a gateway to the world below sea level.
NAUTILUS is built of reinforced concrete and its construction is such that it
will need very little maintenance over its lifetime, and none which will
require shutting down the facility for at least 50 years.
NAUTILUS is expandable during the design phase to allow many permutations of
building, which is why it has given the name to an entire class of buildings.
A NAUTILUS building consists of a combination of the following decks:-
Top Deck
Boat Deck
Guest or Accomodation Deck
Basement
All NAUTILUS buildings have a top deck, boat deck and basement ?and since
only the top deck and part of the boat deck are above water, they will all
look the same. However, there may be big differences below the water line.
