MULTI PURPOSE REC-OIL CATAMARAN -SEPOR 2001-
1) MAIN CHARACTERISTICS:

It is a catamaran made (if requested) of modular elements which can be
transported by road, assembled and put in operation in a few hours (6 hours with
5 erectors)
The boat is able to perform following operation:

-TO RECOVER FLOATING OIL,to deposit it into collecting tanks (rec-oil tanks )
and to unload it ashore or into lighters by using two submerged pumps
(unloading time 2hrs)
Recovery oily water and its transfer to an elevated position regarding the sea
level,is obtained by means of two modulars skimmers each consisting of a frame
with drum having diameter of 1,5 m and a lenght of 1,6 m.With the lowering of
the drums until they are partially immersed, and with their slow rotation in the
oily water, a layer of oil sticks to the external surfaces of the drums because
of their particular rough.Special blades (scrapers) remove the oil from the
drum surfaces which falls for gravity into the rec-oil tanks (havinga total
capacity of 14 cu.m.)
The total surface of the drums worked in a hour by scrapers,is about 15000
sq.m,with a speed of rotation of 20 r.p.m.On the basis of this potential
productivity, the quantity of products recovered by drums is depending from the
thickness, compactnees, fluidity and density of the oil found on the sea
surface, and corresponds to about 15 cu.m per hour with an hypothetic oil layer
of 1 mm. thickness.
In order to avoid that, even a minimum quantity of oil trapped in the channel
between the two demihulls of the catamaran is escaping to stern,a sluice gate
is positioned abaft of the drums which can be lowered when the boat is in the
recovering work.

-TO ELIMINATE OILY WASTE on the surface by spraying a mixture of water and
dispersan liquid. The capacity of the tanks containing the liquid is 2000 litres.

-TO COLLECT SOLID FLOATING WASTE by means of a rotating metallic ribbon and put
it into container which can be unloaded by using an eleodynamic turning crane
on board. If necessary ,a container for waste of 5 ru.m. capacity can replace
the forward skimmer.

-FIRE-FIGHTING SERVICE with 2 pumps each having 50 cu.m. capacity/hour, and
with a pressure of 40 m.w.c..A monitor positioned on the deck of the wheelhouse
and 4 sockets for hoses belong to the plant.

-WASHING AND CLEANING SERVICE for beaches, rocks, quaysides and ship sides ,by
using a mixture of water of the fire fighting plant and dispersant liquid
utilizing hoses with suitable nozzles. In case of emergency the dispersant
liquid can be as much as 16.000 litres, using,in these circumstances, the volume
of the rec-oil tanks.

2)DIMENSIONS

With its modular elements assembled, the boat has the following final dimensions:

Length o.a. 13,50 m.
Breadth o.a. 5,80 m.
Draft Unloaded 0,90 m.
Draft at full load 1,10 m.

The biggest modules are the two demihulls of the catamaran, having dimension of
13,0x2,00x2,10 m. and weighting about 7,500 kg each.
The maximum working front obtained with the opening of the vertical wings on
catamaran bows is 7,5 m.

3)ENGINE POWER AND SPEED

Two diesel engines of 115 kw (150 HP) each at 1800 r.p.m. driving through a
reduction gear,a fixed pitch bronze propeller. The speed of the boat ,at
departure condition ,is about 9 knots.

4) CERTIFICATES:RINA OR B.V. CERTIFICATE

As rec-oil vessel suitable to recover and store mineral oils whose flash point
is less than 60°C in local sea navigation (roads, estuaries, ports and lagoons)
and in internal waters (lakes,rivers,canals).
