New or recent ice-classed vessel required for conversion to expedition yacht.
Size 70-110m LOA. Accommodation for 20-25 crew in comfortable single/twin
cabins + 12 passengers in suites and large living areas. Owner plans 10 year
circumnavigation to include Antartica voyages and North-East/West passage
transit/s (with ice-breaker support). Helicopter capability with refuelling
facilities and hangar if possible (twin-engine 3500kg gross weight). The
finished vessel to be "good-looking" with teak-laid decks and "superyacht"
finish to superstructure. Vessel must be delivered in 12-15 months. Owner's
current vessel is a recent 50m motor yacht based in Mediterranean which he
intends to keep - the new expedition yacht will be used for about 2 weeks
every 2 months and is intended to ensure that his children grow up with
maximum exposure to different cultures and nature from a secure environment
while being schooled ashore. |
