following outline specifications. Since the specifications are written with the
Indian Register of Shipping (IRS) Classification Society, it may be replaced by
equivalent ABS notation and class requirements.

1 General
The vessel shall be a Twin Screw self propelled vessel, suitable for ocean
service and generally as per the General Arrangement drg enclosed. The vessel
is to serve as a multi purpose boat serving as a tug and also for survey
operations.

Classification
Vessel shall be built under Classification of Indian Register of Shipping and
classed as + SUL Tug.
Registration
The vessel shall be registered under Indian Merchant Shipping Act as a class
VIII vessel suitable for operation in deep sea.
Certificates
The following certificates shall be provided by the builder to the owner.

The following tests & trials shall be conducted prior to delivery and on
completion of the vessel:

4. Manoeuvering trials
2.0 Hull Construction
General
The Hull shall be constructed with mild steel and shall be fully welded
construction.
Material and Construction
Vessel shall be constructed of IR Gr A or equivalent steel. The hull shall
be of round bilge construction. The scantlings shall be as per IRS
requirements.
Bottom Construction
A Double bottom shall be provided as far as possible except in tanks.
Shell Plating
The shell Plating and framing shall be as per the Class requirements.
Thicker plates or inserts shall be arranged in way of openings such as
hawse pipes, sea chests and mooring fittings as required.
Deck Houses
A two tier superstructure shall be provided for the wheelhouse, accommodation
and the service spaces as shown in the General Arrangement. The
accommodation shall be for 12 people forming the crew of the vessel. And 15
surveyors.
Tanks
Built-in Tanks shall be provided for the storage of fresh water and fuel oil
complete with filling, discharging, air and sounding connections. All the
necessary loose tanks shall be provided. Ballast tanks shall also be provided.
Bulwarks and railings
A steel bulwark shall be provided at the aft and ford as shown in the General
Arrangement. The Bulwark shall be supported by stays at suitable intervals.
Freeing ports of adequate number and size shall be provided on the bulwark.
Railings of 1.0 M height shall be provided in the cargo region and on the Wh
deck and on the bridge top.
Chain Lockers and spurling pipes
Two chain lockers of adequate capacity shall be arranged on either side
of the CL in the forepeak as shown in the General Arrangement. The access
shall be through a manhole. The chain lockers shall be fitted with a
perforated steel plate at the bottom.
A chafing ring of steel round bar shall be fitted at the lower edge of the
spurling pipe for protection and smooth movement of cables. The end of the
chain cable shall be secured by means of lugs suitably welded in the chain
locker.
Funnel
A funnel of adequate size and aesthetic look as shown in the General
Arrangement shall be provided. The owner's insignia shall be marked and
painted on either side of the funnel. The funnel shall be provided with
louvers of adequate size for ventilation of the Engine Room.
Masts
A mast shall be provided in the ford region The masts shall be of steel
pipes and shall be supported by means of wire rope stays.
Engine casing
Engine casing of suitable dimensions shall be positioned as shown in the
General Arrangement.
Skeg
The skeg shall be double plated and sufficiently stiffened.
3.0 Machinery
The vessel shall be propelled by twin diesel engines coupled to variable pitch
propellers.

Gear Box
Each main engine to be coupled to a marine reverse reduction gear box of TWIN
DISC/ZF Marine or equivalent approved by Classification Society. The gear
ratio shall be 4.00 : 1. The direction of rotation of each propeller shall be
outboard.

Two 100 KVA / 415 V/3 Ph/50 Hz Marine Generators catering to the following

Bow thruster
An electrically driven bow thruster shall be fitted in the forward region as
shown in GA for excellent manoeuverability.
Rudder & rudder stock
Two nos. semi-balanced, double plated, mild steel fabricated rudders shall be
fitted, with horizontal plate frames and soft bottom. The rudders shall have
adequate blade area to ensure good steering quality. Rudder stops shall be
fitted for a hard over angle of 35 deg. Port to 35 deg. Starboard. The rudder
shall be water tight and fitted with filling and drain plugs. All inside
surfaces shall be coated with bituminous solution. The rudder shall be subject
to pressure test as per rule requirements.
A lifting eye and a jumping collar to be fitted to each rudder stock. Rudder
stock to be fabricated out of forged steel.
The rudder stock housing shall be made of tubular steel, with a heavy top plate
to take the steering gear and watertight gland. A bearing shall be incorporated
at the lower end of the housing. The bearing and stock shall be designed to
take the full side load of the rudder.
The rudder bearings shall be made of gun- metal and shall be grease lubricated
from inside steering gear compartment.
Steering gear
Electro-hydraulic steering gear of suitable make, having adequate capacity for
twin screw operations, shall be supplied and fitted in the steering gear
compartment, capable of turning the rudder from 35 deg. to 35 deg at full speed
ahead. The torque shall be 3.0 Ton ?Meter minimum. The construction and
materials are to be as per classification rules.
An Emergency hydraulic steering shall be provided. Steering controls, rudder
angle indicator, alarms, etc. shall be provided in wheel house. A mechanical
type rudder angle indicator shall be provided in steering gear compartment.
Oily water separator
One electrically operated 15 ppm separator of capacity 1 m3/hr shall be
provided.
Sewage treatment plant
One suitable sewage treatment plant shall be fitted.
Air compressor
Air compressor to suit the main engine starting along with air receivers shall
be provided. They shall be electrically started and water cooled.
4.0 Electricals
Switchboard
Main switchboard will have a 415 V section a 230 V section and a 24 V section.
415 V section of the switchboard will cater to following. Equipment

Battery
4 sets of 12 V - 180 Amp-Hr batteries shall be provided. Two of them shall be
located in the Engine room. Arrangement to charge this battery through
Alternator driven by respective engines shall be provided.
5.0 Deck Machinery & Equipment
Windlass
One No electrically operated windlass with CS Twin Gypsy, Twin Warping Head
for 600 KG Anchor.
Also shall be provided with Clutch & Break.

4-point Mooring system
A 4-point mooring system comprising the anchor windlass and two additional
winches at the aft shall be provided.
The aft mooring winches shall be self tensioning winches.
The system shall be designed to hold the vessel in Beaufort 4 and in water
depths of upto 50 m.
Deck crane
An electrically operated deck crane of capacity 5.0 T @ 10.0 M radius shall be
provided.
Towing winch
A towing winch of capacity 30 T pull and 400 m wire rope shall be provided.
6.0 Outfit
All outfit as shown in General Arrangement drawing shall be provided.
7.0 Piping & ventilation systems
All piping systems shall be provided as required. The piping systems shall be:
Bilge piping system

Filling pipes to FW & FW tanks
Ballasting & deballasting system
Mechanical ventilation shall be provided to Engine room. The machinery control
room shall be air conditioned.
8.0 Accommodation & Woodwork
Accommodation will be provided in GA. All furniture and panelling shall be
made out of fire retardant panels.
Arrangements shall be as shown in the drawing.
All accommodation spaces shall be air conditioned by a centralized plant.
The accommodation spaces shall be provided with pressurized water supply
comprising both cold and hot water systems.

Internal communication
An internal communication system shall be fitted covering all cabins in
accommodation spaces, wheel house, Survey room, MCR and steering gear compt.
10.0 Hull Protection & Painting
All Structural plates shall be sandblasted and shop primed prior to
fabrication.
After completion of all welding on the hull, surface shall be wire brushed
and painted with the following scheme
- Two coats of primer on External Hull (bottom+ side shell) upto and
including main deck .
- One coat of primer on Inner Side (Except Cargo, Fuel & Fresh Water
Tanks)
- Two coats of anti fouling paint upto Load Water Line.
- Two coats of boot topping paint above upto main deck
- One Undercoat & one Anti Slip Deck Paint on weather Deck
- One Undercoat & one Finish Coat on Inner Side.
- Fresh Water Tanks, Wing Tanks & DB's shall be painted with two coats
of Bituminous Black after two coats of primer.
All painting shall be epoxy based paints.
Adequate Nos of Aluminium Anodes shall be fitted on Bilge Region, On
bottom shell (Outboard Extreme) on rudder, and shaft brackets
